Articles of Interest: Strategic Planning

In this month’s articles of interest, I am sharing five books on strategy that you can utilize in strategic planning for your firm’s marketing. Although the links are to Amazon, they can also be borrowed for free at your local library or borrowed from online libraries like Hoopla.

  1. The 12 Week Year” by Brian P. Moran and Michael Lennington – This book presents a system for achieving more in 12 weeks than most people do in 12 months, by focusing on short-term goals and executing with discipline and accountability. *I used this book to break my 2023 marketing goals into quarterly goals.
  2. The Art of Strategy: A Game Theorist’s Guide to Success in Business and Life” by Avinash K. Dixit and Barry J. Nalebuff – This book provides insights into game theory and how it can be applied to strategic decision-making in business.
  3. Blue Ocean Strategy” by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne – The book offers a framework that enables the creation of unique market space and negates the competition by discovering novel markets and developing innovative products or services.
  4. The Lean Startup” by Eric Ries – The book presents a startup creation and management methodology grounded in the principles of lean manufacturing and agile development.
  5. Good to Great” by Jim Collins – This book explores the factors that enable companies to achieve sustained growth and success, through a comprehensive study of companies that made the transition from good to great.
