What Accounting Marketers Can Learn from Smarter Social Media Advocacy

Social media is no longer just a brand awareness tool—it’s a powerful driver of culture, recruiting, and even lead generation for accounting firms. But with so many platforms and tools available, it’s easy to get overwhelmed or stuck in outdated workflows.

In this episode of Amplify, Meg Hoevener, Marketing Manager at McGuire Sponsel, sits down with Becky Weiand, Marketing Manager at Rea, to explore how her team has transformed their social media strategy using Clearview Social. From employee advocacy to analytics and automation, Becky shares what’s working—and what she wishes she’d done sooner.

From Hootsuite to Clearview: A Shift in Strategy

When Becky first joined Rea over a decade ago, she helped build the firm’s social media presence from the ground up. Over time, the strategy evolved from general content sharing to a more focused approach centered on company culture and employee engagement.

Initially using Hootsuite’s free version, the team realized they needed a better way to involve employees in content sharing. That’s when they turned to Clearview Social—a platform designed to make it easy for employees to share curated content with just one click.

Making Advocacy Easy (and Fun)

Clearview Social allows the marketing team to create content, add images and captions, and send it directly to employees via email. Employees can then choose what to share, and the platform schedules posts to avoid repetition across feeds.

One standout feature? Gamification. Employees can see who’s sharing the most and how their posts are performing, which adds a fun, competitive element to the process.

To drive adoption, Becky’s team started with a few socially active employees, shared their success stories, and gradually expanded participation. They also integrated Clearview into onboarding and team meetings to keep the momentum going.

Customization and Smarter Sharing

Clearview’s flexibility allows Rea to tailor content by location, service line, or role. For example, HR receives a separate feed focused on job postings, while regional offices get content relevant to their area.

The platform also supports A/B testing by rotating images and captions, helping the team learn what resonates best with different audiences. “It breaks up the monotony,” Becky said. “Even if the article is the same, the presentation feels fresh.”

Measuring What Matters

Clearview’s analytics dashboard tracks clicks, engagement, and even earned media value—showing how much it would have cost to achieve the same reach through paid ads. But Becky’s favorite metric? Website referral traffic.

By tracking how long visitors stay on the site and how many pages they view, the team can see that social media isn’t just driving clicks—it’s driving meaningful engagement.

Social Media as a Recruiting Tool

Rea also uses social media to support recruiting. They added a question to their job application asking if candidates checked out the firm on social media—and over 90% said yes, with LinkedIn leading the way.

To support this, the team creates culture-focused videos for YouTube, including employee testimonials, community involvement, and client success stories.
