How AI is Transforming Marketing

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping marketing in profound ways. From automating content creation to improving marketing efficiency, AI tools are becoming indispensable for firms looking to scale their outreach and impact. In a recent episode of the Amplify! podcast, I had the pleasure of speaking with Blake Oliver, founder and CEO of Earmark, about AI In Marketing. We talked about how AI is revolutionizing the marketing world, particularly in the accounting industry.
AI as a Content Generation Powerhouse
Oliver shared how AI has fundamentally changed content creation at Earmark.
“We’re using ChatGPT and Claude to create CPE courses, blog articles and social media posts. What used to take hours now takes minutes,” he explained.
His team has built an internal AI-powered tool that transforms transcripts from podcast episodes into fully developed CPE courses. This process, which previously required three to four hours, now takes just five minutes. The implications for efficiency and scalability are game-changing.
Beyond course creation, AI has enabled Earmark to generate high-quality blog posts from podcast transcripts. Rather than producing a generic, low-quality article with a single AI prompt, Blake’s team employs “prompt chaining.” This method involves breaking down the writing process into structured steps — extracting key takeaways, identifying themes, building an outline and then drafting in sections. The result? Articles that capture nuanced insights and read more naturally; requiring minimal human editing.
Social Media and Marketing Automation
AI is also making a significant impact on social media marketing. Oliver revealed that his team uses AI to generate LinkedIn posts and Twitter threads, allowing them to maintain a consistent presence without the time drain.
“The AI-generated posts sound like me because we’ve trained the models on my past content,” he said.
AI-driven automation extends to video content as well. With tools like Descript, marketers can seamlessly edit podcast recordings into short-form video clips optimized for social media, further amplifying reach and engagement. The rise of AI-powered video editing tools means firms can now produce high-quality video content without the need for extensive resources or expertise.
AI as a Strategic Thought Partner
Many people view AI as a tool for generating answers, but Oliver highlighted its ability to help marketers ask better questions. “Use AI as your brainstorming assistant,” he advised.
By feeding AI models a marketing plan and prompting them to identify gaps or weaknesses, firms can refine their strategies and ensure they are comprehensive and well-targeted.
AI also plays a critical role in personalizing marketing efforts. From drafting customized email summaries for clients based on financial statements to optimizing social media messaging for different audience segments, AI enables marketers to scale personalization without additional labor.
Overcoming AI Adoption Barriers
Despite AI’s many advantages, some firms remain hesitant due to data privacy concerns. Oliver offered practical guidance: “Read the terms of service, opt for enterprise plans that ensure data protection and build AI usage policies into contracts.”
He compared the current AI skepticism to the early days of cloud computing. Firms that resisted initially were left behind when the technology became standard.
The Future of AI in Accounting Marketing
Looking ahead, AI’s influence on marketing will only expand. Oliver predicts that AI-generated content will become ubiquitous, making authenticity and video content even more critical for firms looking to differentiate themselves. He also emphasized the potential for AI-driven search engines, like Perplexity.ai, to reshape SEO strategies.
For accounting firms, embracing AI is about more than efficiency. It’s about remaining competitive. Those who leverage AI to enhance content creation, automate marketing workflows and optimize strategic decision-making will be best positioned for long-term success.
It’s About Continuous Learning
Oliver’s insights underscore a fundamental shift in marketing: AI isn’t replacing human marketers; it’s making them exponentially more effective. By strategically integrating AI into their workflows, firms can free up valuable time, focus on high-impact initiatives, and ultimately, deliver greater value to their clients.
As AI technology continues to evolve, accounting marketers must stay agile, experiment with new tools, and develop a mindset of continuous learning. The firms that do will lead the industry’s next wave of innovation.
