  • Bio: I started my career in the lovely world of accounting marketing in 2013, but I have been in digital marketing for over 13 years. I like knowing “why” and use Google A LOT to understand that “why.” I think that is why I enjoy digital marketing so much; you get a better sense of how people are engaging, making it easier to see what is working and what is not. At Rea, I focus on our digital strategy. This includes the website, social media and email marketing. I also look at our analytic reports to understand our marketing efforts and the impact they are making. I can also be found researching! This includes market research, company research, industry research and more. And some fun facts about me: I pride myself in finding the perfect meme or gif for any situation. And I may be a little obsessed with true crime: podcasts, documentaries, page-a-day calendars and trading cards – anything true crime.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU:

Describe your role as Digital Marketing Manager of your firm.

I manage our digital strategy – considering how we are utilizing our presence online and planning ways to improve that presence based on the results we are seeing. This includes email marketing, social media strategy, website management and research.

At what point in your career did you decide you wanted to specialize in digital marketing? Why?

It was before I joined the lovely world of accounting marketing. I was working for a telemarketing company as an account representative, serving as the go-between for our clients and the call center. We wanted to make the move into social media, and I was asked to work on a social project because I was the only one at the time using Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. (I was also the youngest. 😊) From that point on, my love for digital started!

Are there any must-have digital marketing tools or news outlets (blogs, podcasts etc.) that you can recommend?

I’m always checking things out at the Content Marketing Institute. Their content is great and engaging, and they are always sharing new and fun digital marketing ideas.

What advice would you give to an accounting marketer who would like to firm up his or her skills in digital marketing?

Keep an eye on what big companies like Nike, Amazon, Target and Apple are doing. They are always finding creative ways to reach their target audiences. I think someone famous once said, “Don’t reinvent the wheel; just realign it.”
