The Right Tool for the Job: Building a CPA Marketer’s Tool Stack

AAM Summit 2018 - CPA Firm Marketing

2018 AAM Summit – Think Fresh! Pre-Conference Post

Being a CPA firm marketer means that you are often faced with two major limitations: time and budget. Unfortunately, I’m unable to create more of either, but I can point you in the direction of tools that can help maximize both.

At this year’s AAM Summit, I’ll be sharing 10 of my favorite tools that help CPA marketers work smarter, not harder. While the full list will have to wait until May, I want to share a few “bonus” tools in this blog to jumpstart your post busy season marketing efforts before the conference. All of the tools below are free to try, so get started today!

Bonus Tool #1: Optimizilla – http://optimizilla.com/

Recently, page load speed has been gaining importance in Google’s search ranking algorithm, especially on mobile devices. Nothing grinds your page load times to a halt faster than large image files.

Despite its importance, resizing and optimizing images for your website or blog can be a time-consuming task and something that can easily be overlooked when rushing to get an article posted on time. Optimizilla is a free to tool that will compress up to 20 images at one time. Simply drag your files into the software and in just minutes, you’ll have images fully optimized for web use—often cutting 70-80 percent off of your files sizes in the process.

Bonus Tool #2: HotJar – https://www.hotjar.com

When designing a new website, we always try to put ourselves into the shoes of our website visitors and envision how we can help them navigate our site in the most efficient way possible. Despite our best efforts, we’re really just taking an educated guess at how users will interact with the site once it is launched.

HotJar removes the guessing and allows you to see real website mouse tracking heatmaps and visitor recordings on your site. This allows you to make educated improvements to your site based on real user data.

Bonus Tool #3: HubSpot Academy – https://academy.hubspot.com/certifications

CPE is just as important for the marketing group at a CPA firm as it is for the accounting staff. AAM offers lots of great CPE resources, including webinars, podcasts and publications. To supplement these learning opportunities, I’d highly recommend the HubSpot Academy. It offers free online marketing courses and certifications, including Inbound Marketing, Content Marketing, Email Marketing and Social Media Marketing. Simply watch these easy-to-follow videos at your own pace and complete the test at the end. As a result, you’ll be able to promote your certification from one of the leading companies in inbound marketing.

I hope that you find these tools helpful. If you’re looking for more tools, please join me at the AAM Summit in Portland, Oregon, May 15 at 3:50 p.m. for “10 Powerful Marketing Tools CPA Marketers Can Leverage Today.”
