SUMMARY:LGBTQIA+ Listening Session
DESCRIPTION:One of the most significant ways AAM has grown as an organization is from the ideas we’ve gained from all of you. In June\, and moving forward\, AAM’s DEI Committee will look at how we can better support and uplift our LGBTQIA+ members as an organization. \nWe invite LGBTQIA+ members and allies within AAM to join a special listening session focused on exploring various ideas and themes. We become stronger as an organization when we all have an opportunity to share our direct experience and collectively brainstorm ways to strengthen and improve our association. \nFacilitated By: Jennifer Harrity-Cantero and Lucas LaChance \n(Proud AAM Board Members and LGBTQIA+) \nWhat are listening sessions? \nListening sessions are facilitated discussions that allow a group of people to share constructive and honest feedback about their experiences. Sessions are held to understand the opportunities and challenges of a specific topic. Participants are invited to speak about their direct experience\, sharing concerns and insights relevant to the subject of each session. \nWe look forward to hearing from you. \n \nJennifer Harrity-Cantero \nDirector of the Sensiba Center for Sustainability @ Sensiba \nJennifer has been an AAM member for the last 11 years and has been on the AAM Board for several of those years. After serving as the head of marketing for her firm for 10 years\, she founded and now leads her firm’s sustainability efforts and ESG practice. This past year was Jennifer’s final year serving on the board. As she rolls off\, her last action will be to (finally) get the ball rolling around better supporting her fellow LGBTQIA+ community within AAM. She knows the information and momentum from this discussion will live on with the DEI Committee and is passing her glittery rainbow torch over to Lucas. \n  \n \nLucas LaChance \nCPA\, CIA\, Partner\, Practice Growth @ Lane Gorman Trubitt\, LLC \nAs a newly-appointed AAM Board Member\, Treasurer\, and glittery rainbow torch-holder\, Lucas is an award-winning marketer\, auditor\, business developer\, and speaker with two decades of leadership. After nearly a decade as an auditor working with clients in a number of industries\, he now is responsible for leading firm initiatives to expand existing client relationships and establish new ones\, investigate innovative client services and solutions\, and instill a culture of client service and sales. \n

SUMMARY:AAM High! Webinar: Are you Ready to be a Challenger?
DESCRIPTION:Let’s face it. Accounting marketers are in uncharted territory. The Post-COVID market is very picky\, AI is turning our traditional bread & butter services into toast\, and M&A is creating a lot of strange bedfellows. The market noise is deafening. How do we compete? This webinar presents an alternative marketing strategy once confined to start-ups\, esoteric/cult brands\, and smaller companies where authenticity\, audacity\, relevance\, and differentiation become the lifeblood of market strategy. Challenger Brand marketing could hold the key to breakthrough positioning and capturing the hearts and minds (and wallets) of clients and prospective clients\, alike. \nSpeakers \nAndrea Sardone \n \nAndrea Sardone is Director of Practice Growth at PBMares LLP\, headquartered in Newport News\, Virginia. She has expertise in digital marketing borne from a mashup of 20+ years of marketing and communications experience and a previous career in technology. She has held leadership roles in “industries in transition”\, including higher education\, media\, and tourism. Now in accounting\, she finds familiar ground where transformation is a must and an opportunity to flex some B2C muscle in a B2B environment. Andrea holds undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Kentucky and it’s fair to assume she is a basketball fan. She and her partner and their 4 dogs live in Norfolk\, VA. They can (all) usually be found at a brewery playing trivia—an opportunity for Andrea to leverage some of the otherwise useless information she’s acquired over the years to get free beer.

DESCRIPTION:Potential employees might be the most important audience we can target. What does “recruiting marketing” mean in your firm? What best practices are you transferring from client acquisition strategies to recruitment marketing? How are your roles changing\, given an increased focus on talent acquisition? Please come prepared to share how your firm is fighting (and winning!) the talent war. \nSME \nAlison Simons \nAlison (she/her) for seven great years\, was the head of marketing for a regional CPA firm in Greater Boston where she would joke “if it’s not a tax return or an audit\, it crosses my desk.”  She was responsible for branding and online marketing\, recruiting and firm culture\, business development and proposals\, and more.  Even though she had a job\, she was getting requests from other CPA firms to help with their marketing; which is\, supposedly\, how you know you’re onto something good.  In 2013 she became an entrepreneur.  In order to serve more clients\, she attracted a team of really amazing people who focus on specialty areas within marketing because (get ready for one of her catch phrases) “Marketing is one word that means a lot of things” and it’s all too much for any one person to be good at.  So\, now she focused on working directly with clients on strategies to help them reach their goals while overseeing more of the activities. Alison is a member of MassCPAs\, ProVisors\, and AAM. She has presented multiple times at the MassCPAs annual conference\, and has been featured on the Marketing Mistakes (and how to avoid them)\, and Stop the Noise podcasts. \nFacilitators \nRaissa Evans \nRaissa joined Weaver as head of digital and lead gen in 2020\, a full-service national CPA and advisory firm. She began her early career in the technology industry\, then spent 12 years as head of marketing at PKF Texas\, a firm recognized as a market-leader by its peers due to many industry firsts\, winning more than 120 awards along the way. She founded her consultancy Running Reload LLC in 2015 where she works with clients on social optimization and Guided Marketing. \nAs a pioneer of digital strategy for professional services for more than 20 years\, Raissa’s led digital transformations in marketing technology\, web and content strategy and lead generation customer journeys. She speaks regularly on growth strategy\, marketing operations\, digital performance and the like. \nShe hosts AAM’s monthly Virtual Campfire video conference and was AAM Marketer of the Year 2011\, was named “One to Watch” by Accounting Today’s Top 100 Most Influential in Accounting\, is Past President of Houston’s Interactive Marketing Association\, and founder of non-profit Celtic Valor\, which awards scholarships to veterans. \nAmanda Sturdevant \nAmanda is a marketing strategist and project manager with more than fifteen years of experience in accounting marketing. In late 2022\, she joined the Enterprise Marketing team at Baker Tilly\, an IPA Top 10 firm\, through a merger and is still feeling her way around. Prior to the merger\, she spent seven years as Marketing Director at True Partners Consulting (TPC)\, a national tax-only accounting firm with nine offices across the U.S. At TPC\, Amanda provided strategic marketing counsel to the firm’s management team\, managed all forms of marketing communications\, planned conferences and events\, and trained firm professionals on marketing and business development topics. Prior to her role at TPC\, Amanda was the Marketing Director at MorrisAnderson\, a restructuring and turnaround consulting firm. She strongly believes that the most important thing an accounting marketer can do is build trust with the partners and professional staff by learning and understanding their business. \nAmanda earned her MBA in Marketing Strategy & Planning and Brand Management from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business in Chicago. She is also a proud alumna of the University of Wisconsin – Go Badgers! She works remotely from her home in Connecticut which she shares with her husband and two sons. \nAmanda is the co-host of AAM’s Virtual Campfire video conference series and looks forward to facilitating conversations on topics that help AAM members contribute to the growth of their firms. She also serves at co-chair of AAM’s Virtual Education Committee.  Connect with Amanda on LinkedIn.
