SUMMARY:Diversity\, Equity\, & Inclusion Webinar: Recognizing and Combating Unconscious Bias
DESCRIPTION:First impressions are the basis for unconscious bias. Unconscious bias is the soft prejudices we all have and are unaware of. In today’s world\, this lack of awareness can profoundly impact your professional and personal life and the way you unintentionally communicate and think. Overt racism is easy to identify\, but how do you identify an unconscious bias? This session will take a deep dive into the subject\, have you confront some of your own biases\, and regardless of race\, status\, income\, or education\, see how you have been a casualty of unconscious bias. \n  \nAbout Jennifer \nJennifer led the firm’s B Corporation certification process\, resulting in SSF becoming the first California accounting firm certified as a B Corporation. In 2020\, she launched the firm’s Sensiba Center for Sustainability\, to help companies move to a purpose-driven\, sustainable business model that includes social and environmental performance\, accountability\, and transparency. \nIn addition to her sustainability practice\, Jennifer hosts the Rebooting Capitalism podcast that digs into why traditional capitalism is broken and what people are doing to fix it. She also as honored in 2021 by the San Francisco Business Times as one of the 100 Most Influential Women in Businesses. \nJennifer received a dual bachelor’s degree in graphic design and photography from California State University\, East Bay. She also holds a diversity and inclusion certificate from Cornell University. Currently\, she is attending Harvard University studying corporate sustainability and innovation. Jennifer has been a member of The Association for Accounting Marketing (AAM) for the past 10 years and has served on the board for the past several years. Outside of work\, Jennifer enjoys CrossFit\, kayaking\, and spending time in the redwoods. \nThis webinar is being offered in collaboration with CPAmerica.
